Proper care by doc.: A hand laceration is very tricky because all layers of skin, tendons, ligaments, nerves, muscles are all very close to surface; the skin is rather tight and any swelling can lead to destruction of one of the above parts. Furthermore it is the most important part of all the extremities for most functions. If very superficial, clean, dry, cover. If any more, er for proper care, prevent/rx infection.

Hand laceration: The hand has a very dense and rich anatomy. Besides treating the physical cut, a well done and documented exam done before any numbing takes place is essential. Sensation, circulation, appearance, rotation, asymmetry, tendon function, a good exam is on e of the most import factors in treating hand lacerations or cuts.
