A member asked:

Being diagnosed with hypokpp but now just got low cortisol reading of 4.2, did cort stim test today no results yet. could this be secondary problem?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably normal: Hi. What time of day was your cortisol of 4.2? It's probably normal. Low serum potassium (K) may be a result of too much aldosterone or too much cortisol, but adrenal insufficiency (primary) causes HIGH serum K, NOT low. Your doc may be barking up the wrong tree testing you for primary adrenal insufficiency. Good luck!
