A member asked:

My boyfriend has a wart on his finger but it was not caused by genital warts, so is it contagious? isn't it only genital warts that are caused by hpv?

Plantar wart: He probably has what is termed a "plantar wart" which is a common wart of the hand. The wart is usually caused by HPV but it is a different strain than the that causes genital warts. It can be transmitted so it helps to cover the wart in a bandage, especially when it is moist. There are over the counter medicines at your local drug store to treat them. Good luck!
