A member asked:

I have an intact hymen, will i bleed first intercourse?(important) do all women during puberty have crescent hymens? is the hymen an elastic membrane?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hymen facts: The hymen is a fibro-elastic membrane that is found at the opening of the vagina and can be stretched(without breaking) by tampons, fingers, etc. They have various appearances in puberty and adulthood from cribiform to crescent to completely intact which will not permit menstrual flow. There may not be bleeding when the hymen is broken as it depends on its condition prior to the event.
