A member asked:

Can perineum-urethral pain be symptoms of prostatitis, even when digital rec. exam, ultrasnd with urinalysis show nothing. what tests 4 confirmation?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

2 vs 4 glass test: Urinalysis is not a 'gold standard' for prostatitis - the 2 and 4 glass test is very useful, and measures urinary bacteria levels from 4 points during a single voided specimen 1) first urine =urethral 2) second urine = bladder 3) post- prostate massage urine = prostatic sample, and 4) second post-prostate massage urine = prostatic sample
