Xray or CT: Either of the above will detect a volvulus and based on the findings, appropriate therapy will be initiated. Most common types are sigmoid and cecal.

Radiologic: Simple abdominal xrays may be helpful. Oftentimes a contrast study such as upper GI or lower GI is necessary.
