High blood sugar?: Hi. Your poor mom; that must feel crummy. How is her diabetes control? If her blood sugar is very high, that causes excessive thirst (and urination). I think that is the most likely explanation. A test called the A1c would be good to get, but even a simple blood glucose test would tell if she is very high. She should control her diabetes very well to prevent eye, kidney, nerve, and heart problems.
