Migrating Pain: Chondromalacia patella can cause more than local pain in the knee. Our body tries to compensate for this by altering the biomechanics of our gait - so we "favor" the knee. As a result this can over-stress other joints, above and below. Hip pain is therefore not uncommon with knee issues, as well as the low back. A hip x-ray can be helpful to assess for a local issue vs. a referred problem.
