Accutane: Isotretinoin is very strictly controlled in US, mainly to prevent pregnancies while using it. Obviously that is not an issue for males. It is a difficult med to take but is by far the most effective therapy for severe acne. It causes dry lips, skin, nose, eyes. It raises blood triglycerides and cholesterol. After 5 months the acne is usually gone and the patient stops it. The side effects are gone
