May not: You have to take birth control pill as directed to avoid pregnancy. The pill prevents ovulation but rest of menstrual cycle remains same .By not taking pill last few days should not affect the period ,

Yes: If you notice, certain pills are different colors and are essentially "empty pills" ie - have no hormonal components. They are designed to allow you to have withdrawal bleeding. If you take those pills earlier or dont take pills towards the last 1/4 of your cycle, your period may come earlier than otherwise. Hope that helps!
