"Petit mal": does not cause flashing lights. Flashing lights don't usually cause Petit Mal (absence seizures) Partial seizures and Generalized Tonic Clonic seizures can be brought on by lights flashing at specific frequencies (also called Nintendo Epilepsy) Absence ( Petit mal) is more likely to be brought on by hyperventilation. These brief generalized seizures typically last 1-3 seconds.
