A member asked:

What kind of injuries can be fatal for an infant in a car accident vs. a child or adult? what makes the infant more likely to have fatal injuries?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Poor restraint use: Failure to use the correct safety seat or it use it properly can lead to preventable loss.An infant's neck & spinal cord is prone to injury fro crash forces.Forward facing infants can paralyzed or die when the cord is overstretched by the head snapping forward. Kids under 12, are too short for the adult belt to anchor their pelvis in a crash and are prone to abdominal injury.
