Hormonal changes: The nexplanon has stronger hormones than the loestrin and the change probably caused you to have the cramping and spotting. To be on the safe side, if you had unprotected sex during this transition, it is probably a good idea to do a home pregnancy test to be sure. My guess would be it is just the change in the hormones.
