Likely: to be related to one or even both of the things you mentioned. Periods can cause pain in breasts and nipples but trauma such as sucking can do so as well. I would take any pain medication that normally helps you with your periods. See if the discomfort improves over the next couple of days. If it worsens, see your doctor. Best of luck!
