Bulging discs: Many people have bulging discs and have no symptoms at all. People perform heavy labor and participate in sports with bulging discs so it is important to be sure of the cause of your pain. Most back pain is probably not caused by bulging or herniated discs. Increasing exercise tolerance and activity is almost always a good thing to do but one may need some help in how to go about it.

Not more damage.: Certainly climbing those stairs will be difficult with herniated discs, but you're not causing yourself more actual damage by climbing them.
