If indicated: Usually a pediatrician would assess the basics before putting a kid through this series of tests.A kid from a short set of parents that grows at a consistently short pattern through childhood will be assessed with a bone age study. If BA is 15 the likelihood of a GH deficiency is almost zero. If he is short in a tall family & bone age is 12 he would be a good candidate for testing.
