A member asked:

Verrucca on face of 13 yr old. 2-3 cryotherapies and creams but no surgery and keeps returning. is there more invasive surgerious plus oral meds to ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Verrucas are viral: infections of the skin, and may resolve spontaneously, but can be difficult to eradicate. Surgical excision leaves a scar. Pulsed dye laser Rx leaves minimal scar compared to other laser or needle cautery. Immune boost with oral Cimetidine has been shown to be helpful in children, and oral ZnSO4 at 10 mg/kg/d up to 600 mg has shown benefit in one control trial after 2 mo. Discuss w/y doc
