Not an ordinary one: Sulfasalazine is a combination of salicylic acid {a component of aspirin} and sulfapyridine, an antibiotic sulfa drug. It is used to treat both inflammatory bowel disease and rheumatoid arthritis. It hss anti-inflammatory properties, but unlike NSAIDS it also can alter the disease n rheumatoid arthritis and IBD. The later takes weeks to months to work.
