Get checked out: quit eating late, drinking late, smoking or using alcohol or antiinflammatories. Also stop carbonated drinks and caffeine for time being. Start an OTC antacid daily and go see your doctor. Could even be an ulcer, which could lead to bigger issues. Zmd

May be stomach acid: These symptoms may be due to an acid/ reflux issue. You can try a brief (no more than 6 week) treatment with an OTC medication like omeprazole 20 mg once a day (1/2 hr before food). If your symptoms get better but reoccur once you have stopped the medicine you must see a GI doctor to get to the bottom of your problems. If you do not see improvement in 3 to 5 days see GI sooner.

Nocturnal burping: Could be reflux. Consider trying a trial of prevecid (OTC) prior to bedtime and elevate head of bed .Also consider gallbladder, food intolerances, DM which can slow movemnt through Gi tract, thyroid, since that may be associated with reflux.
