Think of it this way: Sensory integration disorder is a condition where false or misleading sensory information is sent to other areas of the brain for processing. A good reference for this subject is Too Loud Too Fast Too Bright Too Tight. This is a really good primer on sensory functioning and what happens when the sensory system doesn't integrate well.
