Enlarged heart: An abnormally enlarged heart is called a dilated cardiomyopathy. Symptoms are typically those of heart failure, such as shortness of breath, fatigue, weakness, fluid retention, and sometimes chest pain or palpitations. You should see (and be followed by) a cardiologist, if you have an abnormally enlarged heart.
