Anti-inflammatory: NSAIDS is an acronym that means Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs. And that is exactly what they do they are not steroids but have a strong anti-inflammatory effect. They can cross-react in patients who have aspirin allergy. Naproxen and ibuprofen are examples of over the counter NSAIDS and there are others available only by prescription.
