A member asked:

What are ill-defined osteolytic lesions in bone metastases? how do you treat them?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bone Mets = spread -: of the cancer to bones, and the shadows seen on the Xrays are the osteolytic lesions ( basically the spreading cancer lodges in the bone). Treatment depends on the location of the cancer (whether its from breast, thyroid, kidney or lung) spreading to the Bone, and extent of the bone involvement. In long bones these lesions can be bypassed using a Rod in the bone to stabilize it. See Orthopod.
