Shin splints running: shin splints are usually caused by running up or down hills. the muscles in the leg s are attached to the feet so as you run the foot slaps the ground and the muscles in the leg contract to slow the reactive forces .thus causing inflammation and pain

Not related: Those are probably two unrelated issues. Most common cause of hand numbness is Carpal tunnel syndrome, although there are other possibilities as well. Shin splint is an overuse type syndrome related to the muscles and tendons on the anterior tibia. Consider being seen, many good options for both available.
