A member asked:

How is somatotherapy used to treat mental disorders?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Somatotherapy: Somatotherapy has generally been defined as the treatment of mental illness by physical means instead of psychotherapy. Physical means would be the use of treatments like drugs, electro-shock therapy (ECT) or surgical interventions. Most psychiatric interventions are either the use of drugs or ECT for drug resistant depressions.
