Antibiotic treatment: Psittacosis is pretty rare, but treatment is easy. The standard antibiotics used for chlamydial infections are effective, such as a tetracycline (e.g. doxycycline or minocycline) or a macrolide antibiotic (e.g. azithromycin, clarithromycin, or erythromycin).
