Can i get conscious sedation as an alternative to general anesthesia?

It depends...: A lot can be achieved with local anesthesia (numbing) and "conscious" sedation (where, in theory, the patient is able to respond, but may not remember the events). The requirements are a motivated patient and a proceduralist comfortable doing the intervention under those circumstances.
