Chemotherapy: The tumor cells in Burkitt's lymphoma proliferate at a rapid rate and have a characteristic mutation in the MYC oncogene. It is highly responsive to specific combination chemotherapy regimens. The rituximab antibody may also be given. The regimens are intense, so they should be given by qualified hematologist/oncologist in a well equipped hospital. Stem cell transplantation is used for relapses.
