Does carpal tunnel syndrome effect other joints than the wrist?

Tarsal tunnel: There is a similar condition called tarsal tunnel syndrome in the foot. There the posterior tibial nerve (running behind the leg and ankle) is compressed. In extreme cases, surgery is indicated.

No: Carpal tunnel syndrome only affects the wrist. However, other joints may have similar problems where a nerve can be pinched it just would not be called carpal tunnel syndrome if it occurs somewhere other than the wrist.

No: Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when the median nerve is compressed at the wrist. However, the same median nerve can be compressed near the elbow and is referred to as pronator syndrome.
