What are the signs and symptoms of a kidney infection?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pain and fever: A true kidney infection, termed pyelonephritis, usually causes very obvious symptoms. One will often experience pain in the flank region (where the kidneys are) and will also have a very high fever which often comes in waves. A urinalysis and urine culture will confirm the presence of an infection. This type of infection may require intravenous antibiotics followed by 2-3 weeks oral antibiotics
