Infertile 2 years: IUD's can cause low grade infections, and inflammation causes adhesions (scar tissue). See your gyn provider and get a hysterosalpingogram ( a picture of your fallopian tubes: HSG) . This will clear your tubes which could be obstructed via effects of the IUD. Over a year: If you have been having unprotected intercourse with the same partner for over 13 months without getting pregnant then it is time to schedule a visit with a fertility specialist for an evaluation. A semen analysis will be done to test your husband. You will need ovulation testing and an Xray called an HSG to make sure the tubes are open.
