What effect does estrogen have on fibrinogen ?

Estrogen/fibrinogen: It depends on the route of administration. Typically, estrogen raises fibrinogen levels in the body (this is one of the many reasons why women taking birth control pills and hormone replacement therapy are more susceptible to blood clots). There are a few reports however that transdermal estrogen lowers fibrinogen levels.
