Depo provera (medroxyprogesterone) frequently causes menses to stop. It's sometimes used therapeutically for this reason. Missed cycle: Pregnancy is the number one cause of a missed period, other common causes may be an Anovulatory cycle (you just do not ovulate that one month), anxiety/stress, thyroid issues, rapid weight gain or loss. Best wishes.
