Sperm: it takes but one sperm to fertilize an egg. There are plenty of sperm in the pre-ejaculatory se creations of the penis. Therefore, if the sperm got in the vagina you could get pregnant. In simple terms: penis + vagina - birth control = pregnancy.

Precum is made in the Cowper's gland and sperm is made in the testicles. Multiple studies have shown that precum may have live sperm in the fluid. So that is why couple use contraception. You need only 1 sperm to fertilize.
