And that's logical.: If you do in fact have a viral infection and it's not a high fever, then there are no antibiotics that will help you. Common misconception, the common cold can't be treated with anything other than tincture of time and the right things to boost immunity, vitamin d, c, rest and fluids. Chicken soup really works.

Severity and time: Based upon his exam of you he may not have seen evidence of a severe enough infection to cause him to suspect your infection is bacterial.I may reconsider antibiotics with a fever lasting more than 4-5 days but a virus can cause fever with those symptoms too.If pain worse and fever doesn't go away in 1-2 days I would see him again and ask him to reconsider antibiotic treatment.Tylenol&Advil!
