Many possibilites: It could be anything from a muscle spasm to a kidney stone or kidney infection to a ruptured disc or shingles. Many things can cause this but if you are having severe pain you should see a doctor to find out what the cause is in your case. Good luck. Hope this helps.

Possibilities include muscular strain, bone or disc problem,kidney problem,gall bladder problems. See your physician who will take a good history and perform a thorough physical examination and order any appropriate tests necessary to make a diagnosis.
