Exam is best: but you could start with a gloved or cleaned finger inserted in your vagina. If you feel it, you may be able to stroke it down. Unfortunately, if you cannot feel it, it could have been pushed deeper, and only an exam will confirm. There is risk of serious infection if there is a retained tampon after several days.
