Therefore, a 5,000 microgram biotin supplement is very high potency. Scientists have yet to determine the safety of such high-potency individual vitamins.

No good studies: Current recommends for Biotin is 30 mcg daily unless breast feeding or on dialysis. Unfortunately, when any product is taken in 100x dose, it becomes a drug and may interfere with other enzymes in the body. No studies have been reported as to side effects, but there are anecdotal reports of worsening acne. It is excreted in the kidney, so there is potential for kidney stones if not well hydrated.
