Not so: Valium is not destined to become useless. Some people develop tolerance but most don't the time course is related to symptoms and if one is symptom free, then the suggestion is that you talk to your doctor about weaning off, but talk to your doctor before stopping.

How does Valium affect the heart blood pressure?

Lowers BP: Valium as a tranquilizer will reduce the output of adrenaline and other hormones which will cause blood vessels to vasodilate and lower the pulse rate. These two effects will combine to reduce bp. Valium and all tranquilizers are controlled substances with a high adddictive potential and when combined with other medications , certain medical conditions or alcohol, can supress breathing.

Can u take vitamins with diazepam?

Dr. Donald Hazlett

Check it out 1st: Vitamin preparations state their contents clearly on the label. Look at what you most likely will try and note the contents. Discuss this with the prescribing physician and see if there are any contraindications to taking that particular brand with diazepam. Better to be safe and ask.
A 36-year-old member asked:

How strong is Valium or diazepam?

1 doctor answer3 doctors weighed in
Dr. Myra Skluth
Internal Medicine 35 years experience
Strong based on dose: Diazepam is usually prescribed in 2.5, 5 or 10 mg doses. The effect of the medication is dose dependent. It is a "rescue" mediciation, not a controller. If you are panicky, it will help you to relax. But there are medications which can help to prevent those anxious feelings in the first place, ssris. Never use diazepam with alcohol!

A 37-year-old female asked:

Is klonopin (clonazepam) more potient than valium, 4 myclonic seizures?

2 doctor answers4 doctors weighed in
Dr. William Goldie

One or other: I have usually started with klonopin, (clonazepam) but resistance may develop or excessive saliva develop. A change to valium may help to recover effect and decrease saliva. Sedation may be a side effect of either, but my experience is that valium is better tolerated over long term.
