BV: Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is an imbalance of bacteria in your vagina. Experts are not sure what causes the imbalance. Make sure that you have the fishy odor. Might be something else if no odor. Your risk is higher if you: 1. Have more than one sex partner or have a new sex partner. 2. Douching. So if you are douching, then stop. 3. Smoking. Vaginal therapy with metronidazole gel works.
