A member asked:

I want to know if the difficulty swallowing from botox injections didn't paralyze my esophagus? will this side effect go away on it's own?

Please clarify Q: Your question is unclear however commonly Botox is given in lower end of esophagus to treat achalasia, effects last many months, it does not work in many cases and many patients will need surgical solution eventually. However it is a complex topic and you need to see a good gastroenterologist or a surgeon who deals in this area. I am sorry if I didn't understand your question right!

DYSPHAGIA: Where did you have the Botox injected? If the injection was done in the neck or in the Larynx for spasmodic dysphonia, it can diffuse and affect the pharyngoesophageal muscles. Botox is a neuromodulator and will cause temporary muscle weakness usually lasting 3 months.

Need more info: Where were the injections and what was being treated, I would advise you to contact the doctor who gave the injections and ask them.
