Muscle Strength: Pain in the joints will cause you to use the arm or leg less. That is why mild exercise is important to keeping your strength, and your function. Using some mild, over-the-counter pain medication, tylenol, (acetaminophen) naprosyn, Ibuprofen to reduce the pain, will help you to stay active, and keep your strength.
