A member asked:

Which birth control method has a lower chance of brown thick discharge, dr said it was normal with depo i want off! so mirena (levonorgestrel) or nexplanon?!

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Six of one: half dozen of another. These are all basically the same medicine in different delivery systems. Depo you get a shot every three months. Nexplanon is implanted in your arm and is approved for three years. Mirena (levonorgestrel) is placed in your Uterus and is approved for 5 years. They all have the same bleeding profile so you are just as likely to have the same discharge with all of them.
