Buffalo hump: Hi. That is called a dorsocervical fat pad, or colloquially and to us simple endocrinologists, a buffalo hump (BH). Have you been treated with a lot of prednisone? An uncommon condition that commonly causes a BH is Cushing's Syndrome. Like I said it's rare except for cases caused by chronic high dose prednisone. Do you have any hirsutism or amenorrhea? Fractures? Diabetes? High blood pressure?
