Nephrologist: Trust the doctor who diagnosed to select appropriate tests or referrals to a specialist. It would be a mistake for a non-trained person to do that. But you certainly can ask for a clear explanation of the condition and step-by-step process of Dx and Tx - what to expect and watch for, etc., etc. Best wishes for a good outcome!
