Period regulation: Synthetic progesterone does NOT regulate menstrual cycles as it only causes induced bleeding from a endometrium that has already been primed with estrogen. If you are not ovulating regularly then you need to consult your MD and find out why as progesterone will NOT initiate ovulatory cycles on a regular basis.

Period regulation: Medroxyprogesterone is (like progesterone) going to mimic the second half of your cycle, and when stopped (after ten days) you will have an artificial "period". If your periods are not always following ovulation, they will remain irregular, despite medroxyprogesterone. You can attempt pregnancy, but without ovulation conception will be impossible. Ask your provider about induction of ovulation.
