Bleeding post bcp: Menstruation is caused by a sudden decrease in estrogen/progesterone in a normal cycle. On bcp's, your stopping the pill prematurely will cause the drop in estrogen/progesterone (contained in the bcp) and produce bleeding, just like a normal cycle (without bcp). After this, you may not ovulate (naturally) for several weeks. You can resume your pills after 5-7 days of bleeding, or not.
