Yes: Bethanechol is used for urinary retention, including that caused by drugs (tca's, phenothiazine), & also for neurogenic bladder. Your doc will want to see you to determine cause so as not to overlook a treatable origin.

Can be used: Bethanechol can be used temporarily for acute urinary retention. It is not a recommended long-term treatment, however.
