Separately: Apply them at different times and use only about a "pea-sized" amount of the tretinoin. It can cause a lot of dryness, redness and irritation so start very slowly. Azelaic acid can be use once to twice a day. It is less drying, more tolerable. Contact your dermatologist, they can give you more details about how you are suppose to apply these medications.
