Possible infection: It may be a possible bacterial vaginal infection, which she should have checked out at her GYN MD's office. If all is clear, then her hygiene would also be a consideration. I am not sure why you feel that the "smell" is "in you", especially since a shower takes care of most of sexual body fluids and odors.
